Bumbungan Twin Falls

Bumbungan Twin Falls
Barangay San Buenaventura, Luisina Laguna

Last December 7 2020, I travelled to Luiciana Laguna via motorcycle to see the Hulugan Falls which is one of the famous waterfall in Barangay San Salvador aside from the Talay Falls and Hidden Falls in which I will post it on my next blog. At that time, Ma'am Laura and Sir Lyson told me that there is a waterfall 45 minute drive from the barangay, the locals and tourist guide in the area call it the BUMBUNGAN TWINS FALLS and it is located at Barangay San buenaventura.

On December 27 2020, I travelled again to Luiciana Laguna to check out the Twin Falls. It was raining hard due to there are 2 low pressure area affecting the country at that time. I was introduced and reffered to another local tourist guide by the name of Sir Mark Macasinag also known as Mac-Mac in their area, very professional and very knowledgeable when it comes to the history of waterfalls in the said area. Years back, Sir Macasinag was also the tour guide of Ms. Andi Eigenmann.

It was a 45 minute drive via motorcycle to reach barangay San buenaventura. when you reach the destination, you have to pay 40.00 registration fee at the barangay hall then tour guide fee will be 300.00 ( 5 is to 1) since the waterfall area is very isolated, It is very advisable to have 2 tourist guide, 1 to guide you to the twin falls and another guide to stay and look out for you car and Motorcycle.

This is where the Trail starts. The Nipa Hut is not the registration area, that is the waiting area. Now, Why is it called Bumbungan Twin Falls?

1. The waterfall has 2 names. If you will be entering Barangay Sumucab in Cavinti, locals call it as the SUMUCAB TWIN FALLS. It is almost 2 hours from before you can reach the waterfall. If you will be entering Luisiana Laguna, locals call it as the BUMBUNGAN TWIN FALLS since the so-called bamboo (bumbong) is what the locals use to make puto bumbong.

2. For Waterfall Chasers, I highly suggest that you will go directly to Luisiana Laguna. You will be able to visit 6 waterfalls which are near to each other, Hulugan Falls, Talay Falls, Hidden Falls, Aliw Falls,  Bumbungan Twin Falls and Talong Patay.

3. If you will be coming from barangay sumucab, you will reach the destination with nipa huts but when i visit the area due to strong currents the nipa huts were washed out leaving one  at the side of Barangay San Buenaventura.

4. Swimming Area Depth is 30 feet, you can take a swim at the shallow parts of the twin falls in which the depth of the water is between knee and waist.

The trail going to Bumbungan Twin Falls is very challenging. There are no bamboo for you to hold on, no long tree branches as well to hold on that is why it took me 35 minutes to reach the area but it is all worth it especially when I witnessed very rare event that the bumbungan falls has 3. During heavy rain the water fall will show only as one like a mini niagra falls, but if the currents are moderate which is very rare it will show 3 seperate falls but most of the time its 2 seperate falls..this is one of the luckiest day for me to witness it.

I highly suggest for you to visit Bumbungan Twin Falls when you are staying at Luiciana Laguna..don't miss this out guys. I will post another blog for the other waterfalls sorrounding the Luiciana Laguna.
